Why Disrupt Project Management?

Transforming Project Management is a work of experience, practice, and research on contemporary issues in project management. In a clean swoop, versatile and erudite scholarship, the book examines why the mechanism invented to improve project management has proved abortive or ineffective, the factors that trigger the failure of these techniques to improve project management success, and how the advantage of turning innovative technologies into tools and make diligent use of it will increase the efficiency of project management. All of which are meticulously and adroitly developed in both length and breath in a straightforward language.

Disruptive technology, with the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), is driving innovation that will eventually question or even displace established project management methodologies, frameworks, and tools that have been in practice for decades. Operating with the same approach proved ineffective, time-consuming, sometimes, you must strategically risk disrupting things to have them adjusted. It is not only permissible to question the established project management framework, nor is it a vehement cynicism to dispute its longevity and validity, it is a candid responsibility.

No more should a project leader be anxious to express a diverse opinion to the organization, find someone to blame for a failing project or even be apprehensive to allowing a team member to express theirs. Speak up, express your opinion on how a project must be run, how your project management office should step up and shoulder some of the burdens and acknowledge a team member who is advocating an opinion that is different from yours. Furthermore, the complexity of the world we live in coupled with the ever-expanding amount of information available to us dictates the need for project leaders rather than project managers — a role that can influence organizations, not just one that can shadow established methodologies and frameworks. This book introduces and reveals the importance and relevance and discusses the balanced responsibilities of Project Management Transformation Framework (PMTF) and Innovation Project Management Office (IPMO).

The PMTF is a framework which uses emerging technologies and information intelligence, which will enhance the chances of project success. It also makes sure the lifecycle of the project management and all that has been accomplished are saved. It deals with how to create a cordial relationship between project leaders and team members, giving them the opportunity to contribute their ideas or initiatives to the success of a project. It is through this work that project leaders realistically contribute to the aims and objectives of a project. For meaningful contribution to be realized, the project leaders and team members aptitudes, abilities and self-concept must be aligned with what is required by the project. The relationship with the project team must be built on trust, mutual trust in the project leader and each other.  Focus on the trust-based relationship and not unprincipled transactional relationships that end with the project.
